Day16 – Part III: Top 10 Sounds of Porto! (preliminary)

with 3 comments

I had a hard time working on some extractions of the best and rare sound moments I experienced so far. Far from complete and excellent, still work in progress. Here you go:

  1. Ocean
  2. Down to Ribeira
  3. The old bus
  4. Music
  5. More Music
  6. Sleep
  7. Wake up
  8. Saudade
  9. I hate this
  10. Metro

PS: I will move these snippets to the according first 10 sessions soon … I am in a hurry ….

  1. Sounds great! (pun intended…)
So, are you making progress in relating this audio data to both locations/places and user emotions/feel/well-being? how exactly do you do that? Do you have any plots at hand or something similar? Or is that still too early?

  2. still too early, but it can be foreseen that we need cutting-edge audio analysis (to find the extraordinary in these huge urban sound files and to process the GHz range) and data mining tools (to smooth and handle artefacts in the biodata + finding the correlations), otherwise you freak out about this … and pure interactive exploration will help a lot! people here are already working on sonification of biodata and if I merge .csv-files of GPS traces with biodata we get macro-micro-visualisation of the stuff …
