Open Reality Data: Download, Analyse or Remix, Share!
You should download the full-fledged Open Reality Data of the first 5 sessions in Porto now. I compressed the Urban Sound and the GHz Sound with MP3 encryption. The biodata is a .zip of a CSV-formatted file. The GPS data come still as GoogleEarth-compatible KMZ. See the Download page for further instructions. If you are brave enough go directly to the session pages to start your download:
If you apply some analysis to my reality streams or you intend to create innovative cross-media formats, applications or installations … I would appreciate if you drop me a short note and a link to this blog! Enjoy!

Great!!!! Kudos Stephan!

Today I had a meeting with Michelle of CreativeCommons Berlin. We discussed intensively the ShareAlike aspect, things are not as easy as you might think … more soon … still everything fine, but what happens if an artist want to work with my data and not allow to have his work remixed?

This data is gold!
Regarding CC Share-Alike, if such an artist does not want to have his work remixed he/she has to look for data with a different license somewhere else, no? Too bad for them.
A nicer option would be to open his/her work to the world and let it become the seed and inspiration for even more art work! (I’m not an artist, and I’m probably too ideologic and I’ve been working for too long on opensource software, but I don’t get it why artists are so attached to their own works to a level that prevents them to let others pay them respect by remixing their creations (and paying them the due credit)… go figure.).

@Gustavo: I can understand the kind of dilemma the artists are in, if you craft your artwork which can be a quite intimate and exhausting process, you try to fix each bit of it to generate the maximum of experience transferring your message … so you get so hooked to your baby that it is hard to stand if somebody fiddles around with it in ways that contradict your intentions…. just my few cents … thanks for your strong point!
